Tate had been poked and prodded all morning at the lung specialist's office. We had to go back in the afternoon for a sweat test to rule out cystic fibrosis. He had just fallen asleep when we got there and I was freaking out that he was going to have to wake up and scream through another test. Thankfully, we had an awesome nurse who said we could try it with him sleeping and everything went well from there.
The red and black bands hold some type of concentrated salt solution that makes the skin sweat. This took about 15 minutes.
Then, there is a little collection circle (in the middle of the purple pack) that collects the sweat. This took about half an hour.
Tate started to wake up just as she was finishing. Obviously, not the ideal way to be greeted from a nap...
Whoo-Hoo! Tate's test came back clear! He is not even a carrier! Looking back, his doctors are noting in his charts they believe he had strains of RSV, a prolonged case of bronchiolitis (sp?) and the x-rays show that his lungs were overextended during that duration. Over time he will be monitored for asthma and still will need nebulizer treatments whenever he has a cold.As much as I believe in medical science, I also believe in pristhood blessings...Tate had been very sick with difficulty breathing since the last week of February, he was given a blessing a week ago (yes, we should have done it much earlier!) and from that day we saw him getting better. It was really miraculous to watch. He went from having four breathing treatments a day for two months to not needing any, and his 'smokers' cough' is pretty much gone. We know that heaven has helped in his amazing and quick recovery. And thanks to two different friends who, without mentioning it until later, just added him to their church groups' prayer circles.

Yay! That's so exciting! That must have been SO stressful to have him be so sick. I feel stressed out if Halle sneezes. Last night I had a dream that she had the swine flu.
