Birthday breakfasts are a big deal at our house...the recipient normally has breakfast in bed with their favorite foods and everyone joins them on their bed. This year was different because Dave and I were in Arkansas until that afternoon but I am grateful my mom was around....in fact, she is the one who instilled in me the importance of celebrating birthdays and making that person feel special all day. The parade was that morning...not just for the wagon trail participants but is a typical small town parade with lots of thrown candy, the school marching bands, old tractors, etc... anyway, my dad and Bryce always leave really early to help with everything and the rest of us meet up with them later. Consequently, my mom got up before dawn to make birthday pancakes for Bryce (his favorite breakfast) and she sat with him, as the sun came up...just the two of them. Thank you, Mom!! Then, he and my dad dashed off to the parade route. (The above picture is after the parade in an open area where Bryce was backing up his team, a difficult task.)

Again, Bryce was treated to his own team and wagon to drive in the parade.

Riley is in the pink shirt. Each year, she rides in the parade and Tennille chooses to sit with my mom and collect candy.

Parker is on this wagon, though you really can't see him.

It is wonderful that Bryce had such a great birthday. He looks like a farmer on the wagon, that is for sure. I am sure someone from the Bode side would have made him some wonderful pancakes as well.
